Partnering with Parents in Their Children’s Education
For 37 years, Paula has worked to make families true partners in education. As a teacher and principal, she built strong relationships with parents and promoted open communication between schools and families. Now Superintendent of El Nido Elementary, Paula continues to prioritize family engagement, knowing students do best when parents are invested. As County Superintendent, she will expand communication between schools and families while ensuring parents have the opportunity to participate in their students’ educational decisions.

Ensuring Students Have the Tools for Success
Every student deserves a quality education that prepares them for a rewarding career and life. Paula developed programs that help students succeed, including intervention programs, Summer Algebra Academy, and specialized support for English learners. She has improved curriculum and expanded technology access. At El Nido Elementary, where she serves as Superintendent, these efforts reduced chronic absenteeism and achieved top results compared to similar districts in California. Paula believes strong academics, career technical education, and student support equip every child for success.
